Bruce, I highly recommend Ron to do the work for you. He also can give an honest opinion of market value. He is also within trailering distance for you. /\/\ #6859 WAYBAC -----Original Message----- From: Charles Engles <cengles@cox.net> Sent: Monday, November 18, 2024 8:33 AM To: brogers@optonline.net; detomaso@detomasolist.com Subject: [DeTomaso] Re: Looking for advice on sale price for #4748 Dear Bruce, I would suggest sending the Pantera, engine and ZF to Hampshire (?), Maryland to Ron McCall at McCall's Transmission Shop. He has a good reputation with ZF repairs, 180 degree header fabrication and Panteras. Agree, best to get clutch installed and get running then sell... PROBLEM, every mechanic seems to want to run up the bill because they are interested in the car themselves probably to flip They all want to charge $15K to go through the car or of course they'll buy it outright for cheap. I find this is very common with one-off mechanics. Even some shops run up huge tabs and use mechanic lean to ultimately get u to sell the car. The car has sat for 14 years so it probably needs a good going through before running but 15 grand, really?? 2 estimates, no parts just their labor. The body is perfect, not a spot of rust anywhere. I think it was built by Hall hack in '86 to show quality, many trophies. Plaque on door says "Built exclusively for Mr Vanek" All I know is that Mr Vanek was in the movie business in California Interior very warn, leather GTS kit, I think Hall Pantera, with woodgrain side panels. To clarify, the car isn't totally disassembled, just engine out on a stand and XF out (POLISHED) Seats removed to access front of engine. That's it So install clutch, reassemble, and clean it up and its back to pictures as seen on Provamo website. I get the pricing as described (30/50/70), and that was VERY helpful. It's a sad day when one sells their Pantera but I will make someone new happy Thanks for your help in the past, Milke I think you helped me 14 years ago with clutch purchase THANKS ALL! Regards. Bruce E. Northport, New York buckrogers56@gmail.com PS Car is on Provamo registry, I dont know if this picture will come through. ________________________________ From: Ken Green <kenn_green@yahoo.com> Sent: Sunday, November 17, 2024 3:51 PM To: detomaso@detomasolist.com <detomaso@detomasolist.com>; brogers@optonline.net <brogers@optonline.net> Subject: Re: [DeTomaso] Looking for advice on sale price for #4748 Probably worth paying a mechanic to install the clutch. It would be worth a lot more if someone can drive it. Some restomods have sold for more than original cars, can you share photos? He's a mechanic for a local township and will be able to do work himself. Question is how much if fair... * Car is complete but disassembled * Was doing a clutch replacement and effort stalled 14 years... * Before that car was working great except slipping clutch * Its been heavily customized with lots of louvers and many many upgrades all done in California and professionally * Now, I'm being told that because of all the alterations the car is not worth much because it probably can never be restored to original * Price will include new clutch I bought from Colorado guy years ago with help of this forum to find, (almost $1k) I'm thinking between $30k and 40K, is that about right? I know U guys are very familiar with the car, this is on PROVOMO for reference Thanks in advance Bruce * __________________________________________________________________ From: detomaso-request@detomasolist.com<mailto:detomaso-request@detomasolist.com> <detomaso-request@detomasolist.com<mailto:detomaso-request@detomasolist.com>
