All, I offer the following regarding Michael Shortt's recent writings, specifically his Southern Pride comments. For reasons only MS can explain, in his text regarding the Southern Pride name concerns, I am personally mentioned multiple times. I have sent and received many dozens of emails regarding our club in the last several weeks. Probably six of them have been sent directly to the BOD, with CC copies being sent to an ever-growing list of concerned club members. In none of those emails, either received or written, have I seen any discussion regarding concerns over the chapter's chosen name. I have conveyed my concerns over multiple issues, but a Southern Pride complaint was never one of them. MS predictably continues to depict the turmoil within our club as being the club "progressives" versus old school dinosaurs. But what is actually occurring is more and more club members, and now more BOD members, are coming to realize that sometimes the ends do not justify the means, and that character does still count. The threatening, bullying, name-calling and expletive deleted rants from MS, now being sent to an increasing number of the club's members, is what is fueling our club's turmoil. More and more club members are realizing the problem facing our club is President Michael Shortt's regrettable and chronic inability to behave like an adult. The first step to fixing a problem is realizing that you have one. Thus, The 2016 POCA East Coast Rally is now simply the 2016 East Coast Rally, I will be sponsoring it myself in the same manner that I did the two Summer Summit Events in 2011 and 2012 Nothing will change except now you'll need to register and pay directly here. Same plan, same everything, just no direct POCA Involvement. I hope that those of you who were thinking of coming will still do so. Bill Lewis joined us before and had a blast. Gil Mares and again Larry Finch have raised enough hell over Southern Pride Panteras, why they care is a mystery to me, but then again , why does Larry Finch do anything except complain/moan and contribute nothing? Today's lamblast and I kid you not - was the appropriateness of the name Southern Pride. I guess they had some Confederate Battle Flag image in their twisted little minds, It meant a Group of Big Cats. ( education is important ) Now we all know that a group of Lions is called a Pride. We also know that Pantera means Panther in Italian. Many of you know that Panthers ( like Tigers and Leopards ) are solitary creatures and do not get together in groups, thus there is no name for a group pf them. for a group of Panteras. Panthers only find another Pantera when in heat to screw them. Funny thing happened in May, I went to the so called Fun Rally in Las Vegas ( in the heat ) around a bunch of Panteras, Same exact thing happened to me! So rather than continue to fight these people 24/7 ( and I'm not kidding, it happened all night long ), I have moved all 23 of my soon to be official Southern Pride Pantera members to unaffiliated status and deleted any reference to the chapter across all of POCA.com Now since there is no Chapter to do the work, the HHI Concours display with Tom Tjaarda is unlikely, so I have let Tom know that we (POCA) will not be bringing him here for the HHI Concours. So to recap the days events East Coast Rally is still going on as a private party. Yup, been there. Seen the Elvis car there. I visited only once shortly after it opened, expecting to see an amateurish car guy collection of stuff. BTW, these were first ?? used on the Renault 12 sedan in the later half of the 60’s. The Renault 5 model mentioned by Roland is a very close cousin, but not quite the same. They have showed up on TVR models, the Alpine a310 and the Dacia 2000 made in Romania. Renault sold their old 12 tooling to Romania, where they made a slew of Dacias. These two-color units were only installed in the ‘pods’ of the later GT5 and GT5S cars. The pods in the later cars were modified a bit for the mounting of the two-color units, so the USA “L” cars require an adapter for mounting the lights to their pods. No cutting of the wiring, and the minor unseen cutting of the pods could be “reversed” to reinstall the OEM lights with another purpose-built adapter. Originally the housings were metal, but the Dacia units are all plastic. They are admittedly a bare-bones unit, but they do the job. Like the OEM FORD units, the two-color units also offer an alternate lens - one that is all ‘clear’. Just another front-end appearance option to know of.
