Damn, what a shame Gray passed away. I met Gray a few times at Monterey week and he was a very pleasant gentleman racer with a great sense of humor and spirit. He always seemed to be having fun. In 2011, he went out of his way to help out with Tom Tjaarda’s 40th Pantera anniversary trip to Monterey. Such a shame to see our friends go on. My condolences to his family. All, I was contacted today by Kirby Schrader who notified me that beloved Houston Pantera and vintage race stalwart Gray Gregory passed away peacefully just before midnight, after a valiant 18-month battle with ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Just one year ago this weekend we were together at Road America, where he transferred ownership of his Chevron F2 car to John Taphorn and cheered him on as he raced it for the first time.
