I second Joe's suggestion. I've had relays go bad for both reasons mentioned though not on the Pantera. I have also had one with corrosive leads that caused excessive heat and melted the relay and relay base enough to be noticable and resulted in cycling the compressor until I noticed. In general the death of a relay is caused by 1) cycling 2) over current
So having the relay heavy enough to carry the fan current is needed (I would prefer X2) BUT if it is cycled (on/off) with due to the AC thermostat, it will kill a relay.
I haven't thought any at all about this circuit (and possible upgrades) but first look and I am thinking remove the condenser fan from the AC de icing switch. Letting it run all the time the AC is on is first thought. Using a pressure switch on dryer would be investigated (but that is getting more complicated) KISS Joe

Nick,
More info please.
Is it a stock relay or a modern replacement?
Stock location, inside the cabin?
Stock fan?
I don't have any answers but more info might help the electrically smart people come up with the answer?
Mike
