Electrical question

I am working on a 1973 pantera. On the wiring diagram right of the steering column it says an orange wire and yellow/black wire that goes to 'controls illumination regulator" I think this is for the rheostat switch. Then left of the steering column there is another orange wire and yellow/black wire that says to 'instrument illumination regulator". I don't understand where this second connection goes to and why. Thanks for you help. Rich Hoppe I am working on a 1973 pantera. Rich, Look closely. Later Panteras have TWO identical rheostats, one for the minor gauges on that panel and one to the left of the steering column on the underside of the dash for the tach and speedo. If your car has the pre-L dash it won’t have the second one. Cheers! Mike Sent from my iPhone

Mike, I believe that info is a little misleading because all of the lights inside the gauges, not just the tach and speedo, are controlled with the under dash rheostat, while the one next to the headlight switch controls the two green flood lights under the dash and hanging over the gauges. Richard, Right you are!!! I should have said the one on the right controls the green floodlights while the one on the left controls ALL the gauges. THANKS!!!! Mike Sent from my iPhone

I bought a 28" x 20" color wiring diagram a few year back. Its under glass on my office desktop. Its is very handy.
