All, I was contacted today by Kirby Schrader who notified me that beloved Houston Pantera and vintage race stalwart Gray Gregory passed away peacefully just before midnight, after a valiant 18-month battle with ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Just one year ago this weekend we were together at Road America, where he transferred ownership of his Chevron F2 car to John Taphorn and cheered him on as he raced it for the first time. Ever-giving, here is a pic of Gray analyzing the data from John’s first-ever laps and offering advice…. I loved him like a brother. We had so many wonderful adventures together, including multiple classic car rallies in Europe in my GT-350 some 20 years ago. I will miss him so much…. I am very saddened to hear this. I made a prayer for God to keep him by His side, Gray was an amazing, kind person that will always live in our hearts and memory. Konrad On Mon, Jul 21, 2025 at 8:46 AM Mike Drew via DeTomaso < detomaso@server.detomasolist.com> wrote:

I raced many times against Gray in the same groups, most often at the July Road America event and the HSR 24-hours at Daytona. He was a great competitor, very talented, and very giving. Damn, what a shame Gray passed away. I met Gray a few times at Monterey week and he was a very pleasant gentleman racer with a great sense of humor and spirit. He always seemed to be having fun. In 2011, he went out of his way to help out with Tom Tjaarda’s 40th Pantera anniversary trip to Monterey. Such a shame to see our friends go on. My condolences to his family. Sadly, Jeff Cobb Sent from my brain.

Mike, and all who knew Gray, I’m very saddened to hear the news of his passing. ALS is such a terrible disease, and the only consolation is that he is free of that. I join the many others being filled with regret at never having the chance to enjoy his renown hospitality at the Ranch. Good Speed Gray. Mark Charlton pantera@homecharlton.ca

It is indeed a somber and sad day, although I might not have known Gray as well as many on the list (or perhaps as well as I might have liked) our paths usually crossed at vintage racing events. I can honestly say Gray was an inspiring individual, a larger-than-life Texan of a unique endearing quality an open welcome for anyone wanting to spend time with him. He was damn good driver too and taken way too young by an insufferable disease, as they say "Flat out 'til you see God, then brake" Julian ________________________________ From: Mark Charlton <pantera@homecharlton.ca> Sent: Monday, July 21, 2025 2:29 PM To: Mike Drew <MikeLDrew@aol.com> Cc: Tomaso Forum De <detomaso@server.detomasolist.com> Subject: [DeTomaso] Re: Gray Gregory RIP…. Truly sad to hear. I’ve met Gray a few times on our international trips and me and Karin enjoyed the pig roast on his ranch on the POCA event. Thomas
