Hey Asa...Don't apologize so quickly. What I don't understand is why we are just receiving this information now. By all appearances, Jack and Mike picked up their marbles and went home because they didn't want to change printers regardless of the (now incorrect) $8,000 savings. This seemingly put our editors in a bad light. Additionally, neither spoke up which made matters look worse. Knowing this information before hand would have saved a lot of discontent and innuendo. This smacks of the age-old POCA board making the decisions but not sharing the details with the membership which in this case would have painted the old board in a much better light. Just my curiosity... In the last weeks, most of the LIST EMAILS have been POCA discussions. Is there a reason the POCA WEBSITE is not being used to discussed POCA CLUB matters. -

Hi Marshall, At the time, things were pretty nasty online. It was probably better to not hash the details in a public forum. I reached out to a few people while it was nasty, and I got the same explanation that Judy posted. Basically, the printer costs were about the same - and not $8,000 cheaper. But like I said, it didn¹t make sense to hash details. I still think the best solution is to have 6 color mailings with the newsletter and Profiles merged. Profiles is a great looking magazine. Jack provides great content. Let Jack continue to provide technical articles. Task local chapters to produce content for local updates. And task the editor to pull it all together into Profiles. The BOD can produce content for national events. Will. Hi Effie, Points taken. I’m not sure that I would have done it differently if I were on the board, though. The whole ordeal was unfortunate, and hopefully we can move forward like professionals with respect to one another. BTW, my wife is currently at a board meeting. It’s a local development board, similar to a city council, but not nearly as large. I’ve also served on a BOD for a large IT consulting company. My point is that I know what the BOD is going through, and I’d like to repeat what someone else said. We need to give the “new” BOD time to clean up the mess. Dealing with all of this is difficult and very draining. At the time, things were pretty nasty online. It was probably better to not hash the details in a public forum. I say, if the nasty online comments were allowed, then the printer issue cost should have been posted as well for all of us to see.
I reached out to a few people while it was nasty, and I got the same explanation that Judy posted. Basically, the printer costs were about the same - and not $8,000 cheaper.
But like I said, it didn¹t make sense to hash details. I say just a statement that there was not an actual proposal with savings submitted by MS, (if that was true), would have not been a "hash details" but a most important and deserving information to us all.
I still think the best solution is to have 6 color mailings with the newsletter and Profiles merged. Profiles is a great looking magazine.
Jack provides great content. Let Jack continue to provide technical articles. Task local chapters to produce content for local updates. And task the editor to pull it all together into Profiles. The BOD can produce content for national events.

We need for a trusted someone to forward a statement of what the facts were as "the truth" because many, including myself, feel we were not given the truth and remain confused. Resignations happened for the wrong reason and these members reposted themselves back the minute GoNancy got her wish. I would trust Les Gray to prepare a statement without being influenced, if he knows the facts. Who else on the board can I trust to tell me what really happened? I'm trying to think of one, I will be trying for awhile. Sad... Do I matter? Probably not, but paying my dues gives me the right to question things. When I don't get an answer to my questions, I know I have touched a sensitive issue and the answer must be unfavorable, that's why it is not given. What else could I conclude? A board that does not share important facts which are under debate, is not my kind of board. There is a huge difference between confidentiality and secrecy. Ed recently stated the fact that there is no "Board Appreciation Dinner" for the POCA volunteering board members, like the one we are having this afternoon for our own San Diego Pantera Club board, but then, our club is open, giving, trusted, a pleasure and joy to be with, our members appreciate and adore our president, Marshall Smith, not only because he is handsome and smart and talented and giving, but because we all TRUST him! That's it, friends! It's the trust we are having problem with. Trust is earned, not taken. So, even if I don't feel totally satisfied with answers I received, I thank all of you who made the effort to reply and appreciate you as contributing members of POCA.
