Pantera Palooza 2016, the premier DeTomaso jamboree and picnic held June 12, 2016 in Irvine, CA was another great success because of all the DeTomaso fans throughout California and Arizona that attended this year. Here's this year's group photo......thanks to everyone that helped make this such a great gathering! Great cars, great food, great friends, book signing, POCA swag and jewelry shopping for the ladies, plus goodie bags for everyone! Hope to see you all out again next year for Pantera Palooza 2017! Obtw, the large black pickup version of a Pantera on the far right is Chip Foose's 1956 F100 from Overhauling. It was great to have him and his son be our guests for the day. Good timing on the topic. I am currently installing a dropped battery box and the subsequent battery cable rerouting. I have always envisioned installing a discreet battery disconnect switch for security and safer storage. The idea of a "kill switch" that could be used to shut down a running engine seems like a good idea. I had never thought about the difference until this topic. A heavy duty one for the battery and a lighter duty one for the ignition. You want everything off should there be a problem. Bill Ford and Raj Nair Interview at Le Mans

Final back from Le Mans 24h and Le Mans Classic and starting to work in videos. Here's an interview I filmed with Bill Ford and Raj Nair, CTO of Ford and responsible for the Ford GT program. Audio is a little difficult, but turn up the volume and get the flavor of the paddock area behind the pit on Friday before the start of racing on Saturday. http://youtu.be/GO-tBdURuQQ After this interview, Bill Ford did another interview and I got a chance to spend time one-on-one with Raj. He was surprisingly candid as we talked about Balance of Performance and the Ford GT program and the selection process for buying a Ford GT. AOL Bounces and met a Pantera owner at PVGP

Folks, AOL decided to reject a big batch of emails from the list so a bunch of people may have gotten bounce notifications. I reset the bounce flag on all the AOL email addresses so hopefully everyone's getting emails now. On a Pantera note, we had a driver/crew reception today at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix where I saw a guy standing there with a DeTomaso shirt on. I went over and introduced myself and we chatted for quite some time about all things DeTomaso and vintage racing. I'm pretty sure his name was Matt and he lives just outside of Chicago. He has a black '71. He's racing a Wosley based mini for his first time at the PVGP. Hope he does well! I discovered a significant crack in my intake manifold on my MG so had to take everything apart and get an emergency weld done. Fortunately, my favorite machine shop was able to tig stainless and took care of me. Cars back together and ready for practice and qualifying tomorrow. Kurt

A/C deicing switch sensor

Reinstalling A/C on-off switch. Approximately how far does the temp sensing tube go into the fan housing? As I remember the excess tubing was in a loose coil near to one of the refrigerant hoses. Thanks in advance. Jim Gray

1972 Pre-L stock mufflers needed

Guys, A friend recently bought a 1972 Pre-L Pantera with a completely vile, home-made exhaust system. He's looking for a set of Hall headers (I have a set for sale if necessary, but he would entertain buying one from somebody else instead) and more importantly, a set of stock mufflers in good condition. There were four different styles of mufflers used on the Pre-L cars. The first and second series used a small muffler that was only 8 inches across, while the third series used a relatively huge muffler that was 9 7/16 inches across. What he wants/needs is the most plentiful one, the fourth series, which used the definitive muffler style (also used on the L-model mufflers) with the tips angled upwards (L-model mufflers have the tips coming straight out of the muffler cans. Loads of you have upgraded to various aftermarket systems so there should be plenty of good, useable stock 1972 Pre-L mufflers lying about. How about you contact me if you want to sell yours? Thanks! Rob, What you are looking for is commonly used on boats and RVs. Google "marine battery disconnect relay" or "RV battery disconnect relay." The relay can be mounted close to the battery and controlled by a switch in the driver's compartment. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
