I bought a complete pedal assy out of a 74 and installed it in 1362 as it had the effort reduction. The first thing I noticed MORE than the reduction in effort was I GOT A LONGER STROKE on the clutch disengaugement. I do not have to bottom out he clutch pedal all the way to the floor like i did before. This alone makes it worth it! The email-based forum was setup years ago by Any Polling on a server he owned (realbig.com) This forum is not and never was a POCA forum. It was always open to everyone. After many years, Andy moved on to other things. Asa Jay stepped up to maintain the forum along with his volunteer work on the POCA Store which he did for many years. (A big thanks to Asa Jay and Andy for their many years of daily work on it.) POCA also stepped up by contributing hosting services on the poca.com server, hence the name change from @realbig.com to @poca.com. We set up a modern web forum on poca.com, but it never got much traction. Most people prefer getting email delivery over having to go to a web site. Those that prefer web sites were already well established on the PI web forum. As far as the printer issue -- we have been down that road a few times over the years with a few different printers. There is much more to printing than just putting ink on paper. The printer needs to layout the pages for printing, assemble the printed pages in the right order, not lose any pages on any copy, staple/bind, ingest our mailing address list into their computers, create the labels, attach labels, and get everything to their local post office on time. Much of the work a printer does is not in the ink to paper step, so much of that work is a fixed cost that does not change much with print volume. If some members opt for electronic delivery, there is not that much of a total cost reduction. Jack and Mike have run the numbers with various printers. They may be able to add some details. It is interesting that this President changed a generous grace period without notice. The so-called "shortfall" is created in part by the $10 increased rebate to the chapters that was NOT requested in the first place. The return of this sum places the club at nearly breakeven. Simply, use the money to pay for our publication costs. PROPOSED: $75 dues less $15 to chapters yields $60 to fund the $62.52 publication estimate – per MS. Our $100,000 reserve would easily fund the $2.52 per year. Carrying 853 members at $2.52 is $2,149.56 per year. Divide that into 100,000 means funding covers 46.5 YEARS. OPINION: I do recognize that Mr. Shortt controls the Board by a 5 to 4 vote but there I think that this is a better solution than what MS has proposed. Finally, kudos goes to him for at least publishing the actions he intends to take so we may make positive suggestions for improvement. (Information taken from the President’s Blog.) Clutch Pedal Reduction Kit with Diaphragm Pressure Plate?

Ken I have a Centerforce Pantera diaphragm clutch. I have the effort reduction kit and the Long throw slave in stainless steel. The pedal effort is still pretty fierce. I would say maybe 40-50 lbs to depress. I'm thinking of going back to the stock slave cylinder which will reduce pedal effort at the expense of less friction plate clearance when depressed. I seem to have an abundance of that. A couple of years ago I replaced a 3 finger 'HAYS' type clutch in my '72 with a McLeod diaphragm type pressure plate and disk along with a new throwout bearing all from Steve Wilkinson. At the same time I also added an effort reduction kit from Bob Byars, this one has roller bearings and is a nice improvement from the stock one which uses bare metal as the bushing surface. The old clutch took a significant effort to use, I'd guess the force was somewhere in the 50 - 60 lb range. Not much fun in SoCal traffic. With the new diaphragm clutch and the kit I can now push the clutch pedal to the floor with my hand. I'd estimate the force required to be around 15 lbs, it's as light as a Honda clutch. I can't speak to any other brands but the McLeod diaphragm clutch from Wilkinson and the Byars effort reduction kit provided a significant improvement over the old 3 finger clutch in my car.
